The Installation: Curtain Call

Ron Arad Curtain Call

The Roundhouse, never one for a shoddy event, next week unveils Curtain Call, an installation by architect/designer Ron Arad. Made up of 5,600 (count ’em!) silicon rods and suspended from an 18 metre (measure it!) diameter ring, it is a canvas for films, live performance and audience interaction, from some of the biggest names in the business. We’re talking Hussein Chalayan, Matt Collishaw, Christian Marclay, Javier Mariscal, names, names, names… And seeing as it’s appropriate at this juncture/we have places to be, over to Ron himself:

‘Walk in, penetrate, cross the moving images to get inside the cylinder. You’ll be engulfed by images – a captive, but also a creator. It’s amazing what exciting things happen on both sides of the curtain. I can’t wait.’

He had us at ‘penetrate’.
