She was the spunkiest, squeakiest, most diamond-laden brunette movie sex goddess of all time and now she’s gone. Of course it’s Elizabeth Taylor, actress, inspiration, AIDS activist back when most people wouldn’t even say the word and now dearly departed. To celebrate a very fine body of work, BFI South Bank (or the National Film Theatre for those who see no reason to change the names of things like Jif, Marathon bars and Peking) is putting on a season of films by Miss Taylor taking in A Place in the Sun, Suddenly Last Summer (pictured), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Butterfield 8, Giant and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? She may be late, but there’s no questioning her greatness. The season starts on 1st August. Click here for details.
