With a cameo by Eve Best in The King’s Speech and a whole new Madonna movie coming up, it’s all about Wallace Simpson, the late Duchess of Windsor, at the moment. Which is why the timing of Richard Eyre’s new production, The Last of the Duchess, couldn’t be more spot-on. Starring Anna Chancellor and Sheila Hancock, it is the story of an interviewer who went to visit the Duchess in Paris in her twilight years to discover a bizarre situation where those surrounding Mrs. Simpson seemed to be manipulating her, even stealing from her. Dark, disturbing and delicious, it’s written by Nicholas Wright based on the book by Caroline Blackwood and it starts on 20th October. Tickets will go swiftly. Click here to get your very own.
