There are certain things that every gay man should tick off his list before he dies. Most of them we can’t mention here but near the top of that list is surely to see Dame Shirley Bassey perform a John Barry Bond theme live. Well, those of you with that particular box unticked, your time has come. A memorial concert to John Barry who died in January this year is scheduled for the Royal Albert Hall on 20th June, starring DSB, who will no doubt put it all into bare-shouldered, face-contorting renditions of ‘Goldfinger’ and ‘Diamonds Are Forever’, while a star-studded line-up including David Arnold, the brilliant Rumer, tenor Alfie Boe and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will join Sir George Martin and Sir Michael Caine to pay tribute.
