How very modern to name your in-store cafe after a couple of tarts who used to bed the founder of that store! That’s what’s been going on over at Selfridges where they have opened a cafe called Dolly’s on the lower ground floor (that’s basement to you, but it’s Selfridges basement so we don’t mind the lower ground floor thing). The Dolly Sisters were Hungarian identical twins and apparently put out for Harry Gordon Selfridge. Now you can have afternoon tea with a glass of fizz attached for £30 in honour of the vaudeville performers in between clearing out the Designer Room on the first floor and checking out the very contemporary early mid-century stuff (some of it with authentic rust!) in that self same basement. Sorry, lower ground floor.
