The Restaurant: Kopapa

Kopapa restaurant, Covent Garden

Located on the sacred premises of once dearly-loved gay bar The Box and run by the people behind Marylebone’s superlative tapas-with-a-twist restaurant Providores, the vibes around Covent Garden’s newest restaurant Kopapa couldn’t be more positive.

Add a complete refurbishment (we’re calling it neo-classical with an early mid-century twist) and a truly exciting menu that takes in the likes of grilled sardines, parmesan and bone marrow sauce on toast, glazed duck liver parfait and char-grilled aubergine with tahini tofu, and you certainly won’t have to worry about ordering fried chicken again.

And just to celebrate the birth of a brand new special relationship between 32 Monmouth Street and discerning gay gentlemen that doesn’t include Brazilian bar tenders with their shirts off, Kopapa is offering Jake members a two-for-one deal on a cocktail specially concocted by bar manager Stephen Quainton. Called Jake’s Passion, it’s a muddle of passion fruit 42 Below vodka and passion fruit puree topped up with Veuve Cliquot brut. We think we might be able to freshen our palates with a couple of those.

Mention Jake when you call 020 7240 6076 for your reservation. Visit them at
