FABRICATECSTASY, a pop-up exhibition at Jake Studio 52

We wanted to shake things up a little bit at Jake. Bigger, better, sexier, more fun, more unique, more exciting, more adjectives, even more than that… So then we thought, why not our own gallery?

And that’s how Studio 52 came to be, a pop-up gallery (it’s all the rage and we’re nothing if not all) in the thick of down-with-the-kids Hoxton Square; a four-storey warehouse that we’re filling with work from some of the most exciting new names in art, as well as some established, and very famous, names you’ve almost probably heard of.

Open the weekend of 5th and 6th March (12pm till 6pm), the exhibition is called FABRICATECSTASY and it promises to be truly unique, inspirational, sensual, dazzling, there we go with the adjectives again. You’ll want to reach out and touch, and probably buy.

Anyway, over to our very own press release. We won’t get all self-congratulatory because that’s just showing off. And this isn’t Facebook.

‘A group exhibition of work, including painting, sculpture, drawing, print and video, over four floors of warehouse space in Hoxton Square. Artists included are Maurizio Anzeri, Darren Coffield, Samantha Donnelly, Justin Eagle, Katherine Gardner, Ludovica Gioscia, Bruce Ingram, Rennard Milner, Natasha Rees, Jacob Sutton, Diana Taylor and special guest artists.
Understanding the dynamics of surface and how surface may translate in space is a consistent consideration in visual art practice. How objects may be re-fabricated or re-thought through colour, pattern and material is what brings the group of artists in this presentation together.
In re-framing versions of surface, ‘FABRICATECSTASY’ inadvertently engages with a history of representation and form, in balance with various conceptual underpinnings. Sharing a sensibility through their employment and configuration of materials, the works on display, open up a view of how these ideas permeate through contemporary artwork, as well as ruminating wider allusions within visual culture.
Formally, the work in ‘FABRICATECSTASY’ offer possibilities of how we may distinguish beauty in a contemporary, diverse and image driven world, and conversely, the values we may place upon these perceptions within this framework.’
